We serve an awesome God of Abundant Love! My husband, Kim, has recently been going through procedures and surgeries for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) to help reduce the tremors and other side effects of Parkinson’s Disease. Through this process, we have been abundantly blessed by many siblings in Christ. In addition to our adult daughters and their families, our local church family, Fremont United Methodist Church, has been ever-present with love, prayers, support, and food. All our needs or wants have been met with the generosity of Christ’s love.
The Heart of Carolina Emmaus community has blessed us with another group of disciples and servants to accompany us on this journey. These dear friends from Roxboro to Benson to Kitty Hawk and many places in between have prayed and encouraged us all along the way.
While all of these folks are more blessings than we could imagine, our United Methodist connection has brought us another abundance of prayers and love. Our amazing Administrative Assistant to the District Superintendent, Nancy, offered to add Kim’s DBS surgeries to the conference prayer group each step of the way. More floods of love and prayers came our way. We heard from
ministers and friends we had known and loved over the years.
Ministers I had only met once or twice through the conference and even one I had never met reached out to share the love of Christ with us. A new pastor friend contacted us because she had been through Deep Brain Stimulation herself. Her experience sharing gave us more answers and peace. We could also feel the love and prayers from many we never knew by name.
Friends, we, as United Methodists and as followers of Christ everywhere, are abundantly blessed!! Our connectionalism brings more love, prayers, and support than we can ever imagine. When it comes to siblings in Christ, prayers, and love—the more, the merrier!
Thanks be to God!
