First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Wilson, North Carolina, seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative Director of Children and Family Ministries who has a passion for discipleship among children (birth – grade 5) and their families. The Director will partner with parents, grandparents, and adult volunteers to help children experience God’s love and grow into disciples of Jesus Christ.
FUMC has an established children and family ministry in a large and vibrant congregation in Wilson. This position will build on that existing program and will expand the ministry to encompass holistic spiritual nurture of our children and families within the church and in the community. The Director of Children and Family Ministries will be part of a team with support personnel and volunteers from our community. The work schedule will be a flexible 40 hours per week, with responsibilities on Sundays, Christian holy days, some evenings, and some weekends.
The primary focus of the Director of Children and Family Ministries is to lead students and their families to develop a strong Christian faith in the United Methodist tradition by building and supporting teams of adult volunteers to teach, mentor and sustain ministry activities.
