The Capital District Racial Healing Team has met twice so far this quadrennium and we wanted to offer an update. This team was established in 2015 and much of our initial work was spent in building relationships between team members and in participating in training such as the Racial Equity Institute (REI) Phase 1 and taking the IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory.) We also began to gather and create resources to facilitate and participate in conversations on racial equity. After having some rotations off and onto the team, we moved into Phase 2 of our work together for this quadrennium.
Some of our goals are to continue developing relational and intercultural competencies through experience and training and to engage more formally in the Capital District by becoming a clearinghouse of resources, including book studies, congregational coaches and by offering support and instructions on how to create new racial healing teams. In addition, we offer ourselves individually to provide safe space to BIOPC (Black, Indigenous and other People of Color) clergy and laity in the district who might need encouragement or support in your ministry.
Feel free to reach out to anyone on our team for confidential support.
