Well ya also have to serve –
The Capital District and the NC Annual Conference need you!
There are still positions available to usher at Annual Conference. Folks should be knocking down the doors and begging to be added… but sadly… not the case.
There are positions available Thursday (6/16), Friday (6/17), and Saturday (6/18). There are as short as an hour or as long as 4. Basically the biggest task is to be a warm face and assist with directions to those who have questions.
Carpool, make a day of it, spend some time with your fellow Capitalians! (Is that a word??) Well…. anyway. Here are some words from some people that you know.

Greetings Fellow Christians:
As we consider ways to serve at this year’s Annual Conference, let us reflect on the following passages of Scripture:
[John 12:26] Jesus said: “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor.”
[Ephesians 3:7] “Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the working of his power.”
[Timothy 2:24-25] “And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, patient, correcting opponents with gentleness.”
Servant is the role Christ says we must all play on this side of heaven. This June, our NCCUMC Annual Conference is in need of servants. To this end, you are being called as members of the Capital District, the host for this year’s Annual Conference, to consider serving as an usher. We need servants who are kind, patient and gentle as they direct the hundreds of followers of Christ in Holy Conferencing, in sharing at the Lord’s Table, in food, fellowship and goodwill; so that, the time we all spend with God will be blessed by messengers of the Holy Spirit.
We need your help. Please pray and discern how much time you can share as an Usher at Annual Conference this year. Many are needed, especially in our opening worship as we partake in Holy Communion together. To sign up, we have made it easy with an electronic sign up sheet available on Slotted with the times Ushers are needed. Just follow the link and enter your information for the times you are available. We also ask for cell phone information so we may communicate smoothly and quickly during the conference.
Let me close by offering our Erwin United Methodist Church Mission Statement:
Love God, Love One Another, and Make Disciples for Jesus Christ by Welcoming, Worshipping and Witnessing
Please join us in this mission of Welcoming, Worshipping and Witnessing during Holy Conferencing by serving as an Usher.
With much appreciation,
Erwin UMC Lay Leader and
Capital District Co-Head Usher 2016 Annual Conference
