Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations” and our Methodist mission statement says, “Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world,” but do you ever find yourself wondering how? The global nature of these statements beckons the question – “What can I do in my little corner of the world?” Thankfully, there’s a way to find out, and it’s coming soon.
We have the unique opportunity for lay and clergy alike to learn proven approaches to intentional discipleship formation from Dr. Phil Maynard, author ofShift: Helping Congregations Back Into the Game of Effective Ministry and Membership to Discipleship: Grow Maturing Disciples Who Make Disciples. The Capital District will be hosting this special workshop on August 25th from 10:00-3:30 at Garner UMC. It only costs $10 and includes lunch.
If you can’t make August 25th, there are three alternate dates and locations sponsored by the other districts in the NC Conference. Sign up for anyone which fits your schedule.
Friday, August 24 – Corridor and Fairway Districts: Aldersgate UMC, Durham
Saturday, August 25 – Capital and Heritage Districts: Garner UMC, Garner
Monday, August 27 – Beacon and Sound Districts: St. James UMC, Greenville
Tuesday, August 28 – Gateway and Harbor Districts: Chestnut Street UMC, Lumberton
