As an introduction, Southern Scholar Lucinda MacKethan will speak
about the many ways enslaved people created voices and resistance
in song, poetry, folktale, and narrative.
Then, potter and anthropologist Kathy Rodgers will present.
She has been making new pottery pieces using slave quilt designs that she has carefully researched and will discuss the history of the quilts and how she is using them.
Saturday: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Featured Raleigh artist vendors will be selling jewelry, paintings, and a wide variety of farm and sewing crafts. Also available: UMM famous ham biscuits and grits as well as oils, vinegars, and pickles made from the PLOW Community Garden.
